Jackie’s Review
This morning, we headed to Red Moose Cafe for our usual Saturday rendezvous. While we’d both been here before—myself many times since it’s close to home and my go-to grocery store—we hadn’t yet written a review.
Even before 9 AM, the place was packed! The baristas were working at lightning speed as we ordered our lattes and some food, luckily snagging a nice spot to sit.
Inside, Red Moose offers a mix of tables, bar seating by the counter, and window-side stools. Though it doesn’t get much natural light, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Unlike many coffee shops, their food selection goes well beyond pastries and bagels, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
My latte was smooth, creamy, and well-balanced, with a rich espresso base and silky texture. Not too bitter, not too sweet—just right. I got mine in a paper cup, while my dad opted for a mug.
For breakfast, I ordered a bacon, egg, and potato burrito off the kids’ menu for just $4.99. It was filling, but the tortilla was underwhelming—maybe a different type or warming it up would make a big difference. Still, for the price and portion, I was satisfied.
Over lattes, Dad and I talked politics before diving into work. I spent two hours prepping slides for my TA role with first-year med students, a great way to keep my clinical knowledge fresh during the more relaxed fourth year.
Final verdict? Delicious latte, solid food selection, minor tortilla flaw. 8/10.
Dad’s Review
Presentation was good – not the best but I especially like seeing the darker bubbly texture which usually tells me that the milk vs espresso ratio is good. And true to my expectations the latte had a nice silky texture with sufficient espresso flavor.
8/10 for this review.
