Saturday afternoon, the latte craving hit me hard, so I decided to venture out to Pinned Coffee Co. in South Jordan, Utah, flying solo since Jackie’s off in Houston doing med school rotations (saving lives, no big deal). I had no idea there was a nice cafe this close by! Usually, I make the trip to downtown Salt Lake City to escape the franchise coffee shops to sip an authentic cafe latte. Downtown spots are where the people tend to hang out, study or socialize, after all. But down south? Cafes often feel so lonely. You’ve got to wonder if they even sell enough lattes to keep the lights on. Down here, it’s grab-and-go central for folks chasing their caffeine highs.
Pinned Coffee, nestled next to an apartment building, is cozy—tiny, really—but clean, with a modern, industrial vibe that says, “I’m cool, but I’ve got a rustic side too.” The polished concrete floors? Typical downtown cafe feel. The counter had many things going on, and it took me a minute to locate the menu. Feeling a little warm inside, I opted for Jackie’s cold latte preference and went for the iced option.
I snagged a spot at the bar, facing those glorious floor-to-ceiling windows. Big windows = happy mood. They flood the place with natural light, which I’m all about. But let’s cut the fluff and get to the main event: the latte. Rich, chocolatey goodness with milk that played its part perfectly. YUM! This latte was so good that I almost ordered another one! I’ll give this latte a 9/10!! I’ll have to try their hot version on a colder day. I planned to hang around and read my book, but with the place nearly deserted (just me and the barista exchanging awkward glances), I left after 20 minutes.
